Schools are the single most important aspect of an area to most parents. In Union County, our school system has suffered under such mis-managment that were it a corporation failing to such a degree, it would be filing for re-organization.

D.U.M.P. Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools – Too often local schools, governments work at cross purposes

Out in the real world, everybody knows that schools and neighborhoods are related.
As the Observer’s Michelle Crouch reports on today’s front page, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ neighborhood-based assignment plan is having an unintended effect. People are bidding up home values in neighborhoods where the schools are perceived as desirable. That’s creating a pattern of have and have-not neighborhoods. That isn’t good for the city as a whole.
